Holmen Vikings edge Sparta Spartans 27-24 in Wisconsin high school football game

Holmen - Holmen High School Blake Goyette picked up 141 rushing yards to help the Holmen Vikings to a 27-24 win over the Sparta Spartans on Friday night in a high school football game.

The Vikings also received key efforts from Jack Barth who rushed 5 times for 94 yards and 1 touchdown and AJ Alesch who rushed 6 times for 44 yards and 1 touchdown.

Sparta's linebacker Thomas Laufenberg threw for 87 yards and 1 touchdown and defensive back Grant Geier had 43 receiving yards.

The win helps Holmen improve to 2-4 on the season while Sparta falls to 4-2. Tonight’s game was the first matchup between the two teams.

Holmen will face off against the La Crosse Central Red Raiders at home on Friday September 29. This is the first matchup between the two teams this season.

Sparta travels to Onalaska, WI to take on the Onalaska Hilltoppers on Friday September 29. This is the first matchup between the two teams this season.
