CAMAS, Wash. — Not long ago defending 4A state champion Camas sat 0-4. As much as that loss-ridden start against a gauntlet of Oregon high school football powers now feels like a thing of the past, the Papermakers, winners of four straight, believe it’s helped them get to where they are: one win away from another outright 4A Greater St. Helens League championship.
“It’s a couple plays here and there,” Hathaway said. “We could have been victorious in some of those games and that prepared us for the future, here tonight.”
Jon Schultz took 30 carries for 160 yards and Camas used stingy defense and an early fourth quarter interception to upend Skyview 17-7 on Friday night at Doc Harris Stadium, denying the Storm the chance at their first outright league title since 2011.
