Photos: Eighth-ranked Lincoln of Tacoma once again rules the 3A PCL after 36-34 victory over Lakes

LAKEWOOD – It wasn’t easy, but the Lincoln Abes are 3A Pierce County League champions once again.

Junior quarterback Gabarri Johnson rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns, passed for 189 yards and the game-winning score to wide receiver Jayden Wayne and the No. 8 Abes held off Lakes, 36-34, at Harry E. Lang Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Lincoln rolled up 496 yards of offense, but did not put the game away until Johnson connected with Wayne on a 33-yard touchdown with 3:58 to go to give the Abes a 36-27 lead.

Lakes, which sat eight starters because of a mid-week COVID-19 outbreak, nearly erased a two-touchdown deficit in the second half. Justin Brennan passed for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
