Photos: Eastside Catholic uses week off to tidy up game plan, and executes it well in defeating Metro League rival Seattle Prep

SAMMAMISH – Reigning Class 3A champion Eastside Catholic had a sputtering end to the spring season – and it all started with a 20-7 loss to Seattle Prep, which finished as the Metro League runner-up.

The Crusaders were ready for the rematch Friday night.

Junior quarterback Brady McKelheer threw five touchdown passes, all in the first half, and seventh-ranked Eastside Catholic jumped all over the No. 3 Panthers for a 35-13 victory.

After the game, Eastside Catholic said what happened last spring was “obviously personal for us and our kids” – and the team responded to that in all three phases.

The Crusaders’ defense intercepted Seattle Prep standout Braeden Smith three times in the game.
