SPANAWAY, Wash. — After a tumultuous early season stretch navigating a tough nonleague slate, Lincoln of Tacoma made its first big statement of the early season on Thursday night.

The Abes (2-2) beat No. 4 Spanaway Lake 41-14 on the road at Art Crate Stadium to avenge a lopsided loss in the first week of the condensed spring season.

Lincoln’s losses have come to No. 6 Yelm and No. 3 Bellevue.

The Sentinels (1-1, 0-1 3A Pierce County League) canceled its first two games of the fall season due to COVID-19 protocols. In the spring, they beat Lincoln 34-7 before compiling a 6-0 record.
