SBLive’s Top 25 Washington high school football rankings: Graham-Kapowsin unchallenged at the top, but there is a new No. 2 team – Lake Stevens

High school football games continued in Washington last weekend, marking the first full fall season in two years. Here is the updated statewide all-classification SBLive Top 25 Washington after Week 3:

WASHINGTON FOOTBALL ALL-CLASSIFICATION POWER RANKINGS

1. GRAHAM-KAPOWSIN EAGLES 3-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 23 at Puyallup (4A)

Last result: 45-0 win over Bethel (4A)

Last ranking: No. 1

Ranking rationale: Nobody has scored on the Eagles yet in three games. If you cannot score, you cannot dethrone.

2. LAKE STEVENS VIKINGS 1-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. Archbishop Murphy (2A)

Last result: 20-3 win over then-No. 2 O’Dea (3A)

Last ranking: No. 3

Ranking rationale: If Vikings were sore over COVID-19 break, they certainly took frustration out on top-rated Irish.

3. GONZAGA PREP BULLPUPS 3-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. Mead (3A)

Last result: 51-3 win over Cheney (3A)

Last ranking: No. 5

Ranking rationale: Tougher games area ahead – Central Valley is up in early October – but Bullpups continue to roll.

4. BELLEVUE WOLVERINES 3-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at Lake Washington (3A)

Last result: 56-35 win over then-No. 22 Lincoln of Tacoma (3A)

5. O’DEA FIGHTING IRISH 2-1 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. No. 3 Lake Stevens (4A)

Last result: 20-3 loss to then-No. 3 Lake Stevens (4A)

Last ranking: No. 2

Ranking rationale: Are Irish out of the 3A championship conversation? Absolutely not. Still one of state’s elite teams.

Up next: Sept. 24 at Eastside Catholic (3A)

Last result: 28-22 win over Mount Baker (1A)

Last ranking: No. 4

Ranking rationale: A lot seems to fall at feet of QB Braeden Smith. As long as he comes up big, Panthers keep winning.

7. SPANAWAY LAKE SENTINELS 1-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 23 vs. Lincoln of Tacoma (3A)

Last result: 47-0 win over Silas (3A)

Last ranking: No. 7

8. SUMNER SPARTANS 3-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 23 at South Kitsap (4A)

Last result: 26-21 win over then-No. 11 Puyallup (4A)

Last ranking: No. 8

Up next: Sept. 14 at Pasco (4A)

Last result: 34-20 win over West Valley of Yakima (4A)

Up next: Sept. 25 vs. North Creek (4A)

Last result: 21-7 win over Kentwood (4A)

Last ranking: No. 10

Ranking rationale: Cougars keep taking baby steps in finding true lineup comfort, but winning grind-it-out game encouraging.

11. UNION TITANS 2-1 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 23 at Chiawana (4A)

Last result: 68-7 win over Heritage (3A)

Last ranking: No. 12

Ranking rationale: Still betting this is the best team in Clark County – and their play the past two weeks hasn’t swayed opinion.

12. YELM TORNADOS 3-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at River Ridge (3A)

Last result: 38-20 win over Timberline (3A)

Last ranking: No. 13

Ranking rationale: When 38 points and 499 yards of offense is slightly off-week – you know the Tornadoes are pretty darned good.

13. GLACIER PEAK GRIZZLIES 3-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. Marysville-Pilchuck (3A)

Last result: 49-7 win over Woodinville (4A)

Last ranking: No. 14

Ranking rationale: This is one of those X-factor teams in 4A, led by a diverse, high-powered offense with unflinching QB River Lien.

14. KAMIAKIN BRAVES 3-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. Walla Walla (3A)

Last result: 43-15 win over then-No. 15 Richland (4A)

15. PUYALLUP VIKINGS 2-1 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 23 at No. 1 Graham-Kapowsin (4A)

Last result: 26-21 loss to No. 8 Sumner (4A)

Last ranking: No. 11

Ranking rationale: Impressive development in the loss Friday – Vikings’ defensive front, led by DT David Iuli, is strong and active.

16. EASTLAKE WOLVES 3-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at Woodinville (4A)

Last result: 56-7 win over Kentridge (4A)

Last ranking: No. 16

Ranking rationale: Not much to dissect – you follow up a nailbiter (17-16 win over Rainier Beach) with complete effort – you stay put.

17. TUMWATER THUNDERBIRDS 2-1 (2A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. W.F. West (2A)

Last result: 42-35 OT loss to Central Catholic (Ore.)

Last ranking: No. 18

Ranking rationale: T-Birds see their long winning streak snapped, but they move up one spot? That is how impressive that defeat was.

18. EASTSIDE CATHOLIC CRUSADERS 1-1 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. No. 6 Seattle Prep (3A)

Last result: Bye week (lost at Valor Christian, Colo. on Sept. 10)

Last ranking: No. 19

19. MOUNT SPOKANE WILDCATS 2-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at Central Valley (4A)

Last result: 41-0 win over Ridgeline (4A)

20. MARYSVILLE-PILCHUCK TOMAHAWKS 3-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at No. 13 Glacier Peak (4A)

Last result: 63-14 win over Marysville Getchell (3A)

Last ranking: No. 21

Ranking rationale: If RB Dylan Carson posts another 200-yard rushing effort this week, Tomahawks probably win – and make move up.

21. MOUNT SI WILDCATS 2-1 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at Skyline (3A)

Last result: 39-38 OT win over Post Falls (ID)

Last ranking: No. 23

Ranking rationale: Hard to get a read on this team. QB Avery Walker has the keys, and seems like Wildcats will take off when he arrives.

22. CENTRAL VALLEY BEARS 2-1 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. No. 19 Mount Spokane (3A)

Last result: 41-0 win over Ferris (3A)

Last ranking: No. 24

Ranking rationale: Impressive back-to-back GSL shutouts further proof that team’s opening loss at Eastmont was more of a trip than trend.

23. SKYVIEW STORM 3-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 25 at Coeur d’Alene (ID)

Last result: 38-35 win over Sunnyside (4A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at Hermiston, Ore. (3A)

Last result: 43-15 loss to then-No. 17 Kamiakin (4A)

Last ranking: No. 15

Ranking rationale: Came into Kamiakin game brimming with confidence. How long will it take Bombers to heal up from that bruising?

25. FERNDALE GOLDEN EAGLES 3-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 24 at Mount Vernon (3A)

Last result: 18-17 win over Arlington (3A)

Last ranking: N/R.

Ranking rationale: Avoided final-minute disaster (Eagles missed late field goal) to drive for game-winning touchdown – and glory.
