High school football games continued in Washington last weekend, marking the first full fall season in two years. Here is the updated statewide all-classification SBLive Top 25 Washington after Week 2:

PRESEASON ALL CLASSIFICATION TOP 50

WEEK 2

WASHINGTON FOOTBALL ALL-CLASSIFICATION POWER RANKINGS

1. GRAHAM-KAPOWSIN EAGLES 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at Bethel (4A)

Last result: 56-0 win over Olympia (4A)

Last ranking: No. 1

Ranking rationale: They started the season in the top spot, and with back-to-back 4A SPSL shutout victories – they deserve to remain in the captain’s chair.

2. O’DEA FIGHTING IRISH 2-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. No. 3 Lake Stevens (4A)

Last result: 49-0 win over then-No. 19 Kennedy Catholic (4A)

Last ranking: No. 2

Ranking rationale: Certain the Irish have a strong case for being No. 1. They’ve been just as dominant in their results. And they’ve played a stronger schedule.

3. LAKE STEVENS VIKINGS 0-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at No. 2 O’Dea (3A)

Last result: Did not play

Last ranking: No. 3

Ranking rationale: Finally! After sitting out the past two weeks due to in-house COVID-19 protocols, the 4A Wesco champions get their season started.

4. SEATTLE PREP PANTHERS 2-0 (3A)

Up next: TBD

Last result: 56-27 win over Bishop Blanchet (3A)

Last ranking: No. 4

Ranking rationale: It seems each week, the reigning Metro runners-up are closer to finding their footing with a newer cast around QB Braeden Smith.

5. GONZAGA PREP BULLPUPS 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Cheney (3A)

Last result: 44-6 win over Eastmont (4A)

Last ranking: No. 5

Ranking rationale: Right now, they are eastern Washington’s most complete large-school contender – and gaining strength with improving offensive front.

6. BELLEVUE WOLVERINES 2-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. No. 22 Lincoln of Tacoma (3A)

Last result: 31-0 win over Kentwood (4A)

Last ranking: No. 7

Ranking rationale: Too good to sit behind the idle Sentinels anymore as Wing-T rushing attack just shredding defenses up like crinkle paper.

7. SPANAWAY LAKE SENTINELS 0-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at Silas (3A)

Last result: Did not play

Last ranking: No. 6

Ranking rationale: With the rest of the 3A PCL up and down, it’s time for the reigning league champions, led by WR Jasiah Wagoner, to relaunch.

8. SUMNER SPARTANS 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at No. 11 Puyallup (4A)

Last result: 49-6 win over Rogers of Puyallup (4A)

Last ranking: No. 8

Ranking rationale: QB Bo Carlson has shown vast improvement, but this week is a major hurdle – Viks have won past four meetings convincingly.

9. KENNEWICK LIONS 2-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at West Valley of Yakima (4A)

Last result: 17-14 win over Southridge (3A)

Last ranking: No. 9

Ranking rationale: Are they a shaky top-10 team? Based on two closer-than-expected, low-scoring results – the argument is there. For now, they stay.

10. BOTHELL COUGARS 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 18 vs. Kentwood (4A)

Last result: 40-21 win over Tahoma (4A)

Last ranking: No. 10

Ranking rationale: Stop me if you’ve heard this before – the reigning 4A KingCo champions are still good. Are they 4A contenders? They think so.

11. PUYALLUP VIKINGS 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. No. 8 Sumner (4A)

Last result: 30-20 win over Curtis (4A)

Last ranking: No. 11

Ranking rationale: Opening weekend, the passing game carried the day. Last week, the run game was king. If Viks get both going, look out.

12. UNION TITANS 1-1 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Heritage (3A)

Last result: 35-21 win over Mountain View (3A)

Last ranking: No. 12

Ranking rationale: Much of the Titans’ aerial production – and state profile – revolves around WR Tobias Merriweather. Who feeds him next?

13. YELM TORNADOS 2-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Timberline (3A)

Last result: 41-20 win over then No.-20 Mount Si (4A)

Last ranking: No. 13

Ranking rationale: Hearing the Tornados good is one thing – finding out in person is a much different experience. Ask Lincoln and Mount Si about that.

14. GLACIER PEAK GRIZZLIES 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 16 at Woodinville (4A)

Last result: 50-21 win over Monroe (4A)

Last ranking: No. 14

Ranking rationale: Junior offensive backfield mates River Lien (QB) and Trey Lecker (RB) becoming best friends – and feared enemies of 4A Wesco defenses.

15. RICHLAND BOMBERS 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. No. 17 Kamiakin (4A)

Last result: 50-0 win over Hanford (3A)

Last ranking: No. 15

Ranking rationale: Right or wrong, feels like a ton of eyeballs will be tuning into this week’s game to determine who they think is the best program in MCC.

16. EASTLAKE WOLVES 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Kentridge.

Last result: 17-16 win over Rainier Beach (3A)

Last ranking: No. 16

Ranking rationale: When they can properly prepare for an opponent – they are good. When it’s last minute, like last week, Wolves still find way to win.

17. KAMIAKIN BRAVES 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at No. 15 Richland (4A)

Last result: 46-24 win over Chiawana (4A)

Last ranking: No. 21

Ranking rationale: This is a team used to winning, is brimming with confidence – and just ran up and down the field on the reigning MCC champions.

18. TUMWATER THUNDERBIRDS 2-0 (2A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at Aberdeen (2A)

Last result: 42-0 win over Capital (3A)

Last ranking: No. 22

Ranking rationale: Based on what has happened in the past seven quarters – Tumwater has scored 91 points – is this criminally too low? Might be.

19. EASTSIDE CATHOLIC CRUSADERS 1-1 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 24 vs. No. 4 Seattle Prep

Last result: 41-0 loss to Valor Christian (Colo.)

Last ranking: No. 18

Ranking rationale: Got walloped by Colorado’s top team, but to be fair, COVID-19 affected players had little practice time before being cleared to play.

20. MOUNT SPOKANE WILDCATS 1-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Ridgeline (4A)

Last result: Did not play (two games canceled by COVID-19)

Last ranking: No. 23

Ranking rationale: Cleary the GSL’s top 3A team, the Wildcats first had the rivalry game nixed with Mead, then their replacement game against Coeur d’Alene.

21. MARYSVILLE-PILCHUCK 2-0 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Marysville Getchell (3A)

Last result: 49-14 win over Stanwood (3A1

Last ranking: No. 24

Ranking rationale: Tomahawks are winning the games they are supposed to – and RB Dylan Carson (526 rushing yards, eight TDs) has been unstoppable.

22. LINCOLN OF TACOMA ABES 1-1 (3A)

Up next: Sept. 17 at No. 6 Bellevue (3A)

Last result: 54-42 win over Skyline (3A)

Last ranking: No. 17

Ranking rationale: While QB Gabarri Johnson gave a vintage performance (570 total yards, seven TDs) last week, defense is worrisome. Abes know it, too.

23. MOUNT SI WILDCATS 1-1 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Post Falls (ID)

Last result: 41-20 loss to No. 13 Yelm (3A)

Last ranking: No. 21

Ranking rationale: Wasn’t a terrible loss at home to Yelm – especially having an early lead. Wildcats offense will eventually catch up to stellar defensive cast.

24. CENTRAL VALLEY BEARS 1-1 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 17 vs. Ferris (3A)

Last result: 21-0 win over Lewis & Clark (4A)

Last ranking: No. 25

Ranking rationale: First-week loss to Eastmont was more of a blip than anything. Backfield-sharing Abshire brothers will keep this offense on track.

25. SKYVIEW STORM 2-0 (4A)

Up next: Sept. 18 vs. Sunnyside (4A)

Last result: 51-6 win over Battle Ground (4A)

Last ranking: N/R.

Ranking rationale: Great offensive line, experienced line – and now QB Niko Arriola quickly showing he can be a strength, not missing link for Storm.
