The Iso podcast with Dan Dickau: Ballard legend Michael Johnson, once a state career scoring leader, rewinds on glory days

Michael Johnson’s jersey hangs in rafters of the Ballard High School gym for a reason. The 1997 grad once held the state’s career scoring record for big schools, was Gatorade Player of the Year in Washington in 1996 and averaged more than 20 points per game all four years of high school — 27.1 points, 10.3 boards and 5.3 assists per game as a senior.

Johnson, who now lives in Pennsylvania, joined Friday’s episode of The Iso with Dan Dickau to replay those glory days. He talked about the crop of talent in the Seattle area in the late 90s, adjusting as he ascended levels, playing for Bob Bender at Washington and more.

The Iso with Dan Dickau is a podcast presented by SBLive Sports and the Bleav Podcast Network, which publishes weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Dickau, a former Gonzaga All-American, NBA vet-turned basketball analyst interviews experts all corners of the sports world from coaches, front office executives to athletes about untold stories, memories and experiences.
