SBLive Boys Basketball Recruiting Rankings: Auburn wing Trevon Blassingame ranked No. 14 in Washington

In an effort to shine a brighter spotlight on Washington high school basketball players, we are introducing our first-ever SBLive Boys Basketball Recruiting Rankings.

Our rankings are compiled by SBLive Basketball Analyst Dan Dickau based on observations and conversations with an extensive network of coaching and media sources across the country. The players have been evaluated through a college recruiting lens and analyzed in four categories: athleticism, ball skills, basketball IQ and upside.

Over the next few weeks we will roll out our Top 25 players in Washington. Here’s a closer look at No. 14 on the list, Auburn wing Trevon Blassingame:

DICKAU’S ANALYSIS

ATHLETICISM: Blassingame is a wing with great length who has shown flashes of ability to finish above the rim and through contact with newfound strength.

BALL SKILLS: There are lots of good shooters in Washington high school basketball, and Blassingame could contend for the title of best shooter in the state. He has good footwork and with his size he can definitely rise up over the top of defenders. His ball-handling has been a point of emphasis for improvement.

BASKETBALL IQ: Blassingame plays for a really good high school coach who not only coaches, but also teaches the game. This knowledge is beginning to show. Growth in his basketball IQ will be shown in his ability to move without the ball and create space for others as well as his own jump shot. By all accounts his understanding of the game has improved over the summer and fall in AAU games.

UPSIDE: He already holds multiple Division I offers based on his size and shooting ability.  He could be a Pac-12 level player if his IQ and athleticism continue to improve.
