TACOMA — More than 100 high school athletes from Washington and Oregon competed at a padded scrimmage on Sunday at First Creek Middle school as a part of a College ID Showcase put on by Bellevue-based training center Ford Sports Performance.
For many, if not all of the athletes, it was the first time they strapped on football pads since the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led the WIAA to postponed high school football in Washington to the spring.
The scrimmage took place after a weekend of invite-only, pay-for-play instruction from well-known football minds. A live-stream was publicly available for college coaches.
