Learn the fundamentals first. Then, add the “razzle-dazzle.”
That’s the advice of Kumbeno Memory, a respected, well-established Portland-based basketball trainer who works with NBA players, past and present — Ime Udoka, Nigel Williams-Goss and more.
Memory, who runs the Hoopdreamsbball podcast centered around player development, joins Dan Dickau on latest episode of The Iso podcast with Dan Dickau, which published Friday, to talk about what separates a great trainer, Portland versus Seattle hoops and what allows a great prospect to pan out and more. Dickau serves as a soundboard and squares his personal experiences with Memory’s advice, having cut his teeth against the best players from Portland and Seattle as a young prospect from Brush Prairie in the 90s.
The Iso with Dan Dickau is a podcast presented by SBLive Sports and the Bleav Podcast Network, which publishes weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Dickau, a former Gonzaga All-American, NBA vet-turned basketball analyst interviews experts all corners of the sports world from coaches, front office executives to athletes about untold stories, memories and experiences.
