Paolo Banchero, Nolan Hickman’s commitment make Washington basketball history: SBLive Washington podcast

Last week, Paolo Banchero committed to Duke and two days later, Nolan Hickman committed to Kentucky, meaning the top boys recruits in the class of 2021 are both headed to blue bloods.

On this week’s episode of the SBLive Washington podcast, which was released Wednesday, reporters Andy Buhler and Todd Milles and analyst Dan Dickau give insight, background and perspective on what the commitments mean and how each respective player landed on their choice.

Banchero is a consensus top-three recruit nationally in the class of 2021 and becomes the second Washington product to commit to Duke men’s basketball, the first since Quin Snyder in 1985. In committing to Kentucky, a sudden and surprising move since he did not publicize his offer, Hickman will be the first in-state product to go to Kentucky.

Then, a discussion about the six high school students in Washington playing high school football this fall and a preview of Dickau’s in-depth interview with former Decatur great Quincy Wilder.
