The Iso podcast with Dan Dickau: World-renowned golf course designer David McLay-Kidd gives step-by-step look at his process

The Castle Course at St. Andrews. Bandon Dunes. And for Washington golf fanatics, Brewster’s Gamble Sands.

David McLay-Kidd has designed some of the most well-known and renowned golf courses in both the Pacific Northwest and across the globe. He joined The Iso podcast with Dan Dickau in an episode released Monday ahead of the U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes in southern Oregon, a course McLay-Kidd designed.

McLay-Kidd gives a step-by-step walkthrough of how golf courses are designed and how he landed the job designing a course at St. Andrews — an opportunity he says only comes once in several lifetimes.

Qualifying rounds for the U.S. Amateur begins Monday.
