The WIAA Executive Board announced Tuesday it is delaying the start of the fall high school sports season in Washington, marking its first in what could be several delays as the novel coronavirus continues to spread across the state.

Practices for the 2020 football season are now scheduled to start on Sept. 5. Practices for all other sports will start Sept. 7.

WIAA Executive Director Mick Hoffman joined the SBLive Washington podcast (11:41 minute mark) Thursday to talk about what went into the decision and what to expect going forward.
