Scorebook Live’s 2A Washington softball Top 10: W.F. West No. 1 in preseason rankings

Here are Scorebook Live’s preseason Top 10 rankings for Class 2A Washington high school softball. Our class-by-class Washington softball rankings are typically released every Monday throughout the season. With spring sports on hold due to coronavirus concerns, it’s possible these will be our only softball rankings of the 2020 season.

The rankings are compiled by SB Live Washington senior reporter Todd Milles.

1. W.F. West

Loaded everywhere, including retaining the heart of its lineup with Boise State signee Ashlyn Whalen (INF) and Portland State signee Paetynn Lopez (C)

2. Ridgefield

Juniors Kekai Schultz and Lily Mittmann return to lead the Spudders under new head coach Kelsey Anchors-Goodman

3. Woodland

Six seniors return for the defending 2A champions, including SS Kaily Christensen. Still a state contender

4. Ephrata

Reigning CWAC player of the year Rylee Peters (SP) is an innings-eater, and Jocelyn Eisen, a junior, is a two-way standout (SS/SP)

5. Tumwater

Returning 2A EvCo first-team performers Emmi Clarke and Ashley May are back for the Thunderbirds

6. Port Angeles

This is one of the Roughriders’ most complete teams with five seniors, but power-hitting SS Jada Cargo is just a junior

7. Anacortes

First team All-Northwest Conference honorees Riley Pirkle and Lindsey South return to lead a team that finished the 2019 regular season 18-0

8. Selah

Junior Sydney Wells is one of the best infielders in 2A, and Viks are planning to go with an all-freshman outfield

9. Sequim

LeeAnn Raney is arguably the 2A Olympic’s top ace, and sophomore outfielder Kiana Robideau was a first team all-league selection in 2019

10. Lynden

The Lions will have to replace four-year SP Breanna Swendt, but seniors Juniors Riley Anderson (1B) and Haley Saur (SS) are back
