Here’s a look at the Class 2A Greater St. Helens League:
Columbia River ended Mark Morris’ 18-year streak of league titles last year, and the Chieftains, paced by returning co-league MVP and preseason all-state guard Nate Snook, are the favorite once again.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Snook — 13.9 points per game through eight games — is a 6-foot senior guard who can beat you off the dribble, shoot the lights out and get his own shot when he’s not creating for others.
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR
The Washougal Panthers finished sixth of seven teams in the league standings last year, but its senior-laden roster is experiencing some of the momentum of its football season, where it won its first playoff game since 1974. Jakob Davis is back after a season-ending injury last year, and is averaging around 16 points per game alongside senior guard Brevan Bea.
