Brevan Bea, linebacker

First-team all-league defense as a junior. Hard-hitting playmaker, leader on both sides of the ball.

Jakob Davis, wide receiver

The big-bodied wideout/tight end got even bigger for his senior season. First-team all-league receiver as a junior.

Dalton Payne, quarterback

Tossed for 1,829 yards on 49.8 completion percentage opposite eight interceptions and accounted for 21 total touchdowns as a junior. Second team all-league selection.

Washougal went nine years without a postseason berth until finally breaking through in 2016. Since then, the Panthers have made short stays in the postseason two of the last three seasons.

Perhaps this season will be different for a senior-heavy team that returns 16 starters, including four all-league selections. In a league where two-time defending 2A state champion Hockinson is once again the heavy favorite, the Panthers appear well-positioned to make a run at second place.

That corps of seniors includes senior linebacker/wideout Brevan Bea, whose name rings out of the public address announcer on any given play, or trusty wideout Jakob Davis. Both are three-year starters.
