Kennedy Catholic senior Justin Baker, a multi-faceted skill player, announced his commitment to play football at the University of California on Sunday night.

Baker, a first-team 4A South Puget Sound League selection at wide receiver as a junior, has played out of the backfield and excelled out wide in the Lancers’ pass-heavy system.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound Baker is a three-star and the 11th ranked recruit in the state of Washington from the class of 2020, according to recruiting site 247 Sports, which lists him as an all-purpose back.

The announcement came a little more than a week ahead of the start of fall football practices. He is a part of a talented corps at Kennedy Catholic, which is one of the top 4A teams in the state. The Lancers boast one of the country’s top class of 2020 recruits Sav’ell Smalls, a linebacker, and four-star junior quarterback Sam Huard, a UW commit.

Baker reportedly held offers from Pac-12 schools Arizona, Colorado and Oregon State along with Nebraska and Boise State.
