7 questions with Zillah High School guard Antonio Salinas

Antonio Salinas is looking to lead coach Mario Mengeralli’s Zillah Leopards squad back to the state tournament at the Yakima Dome. Salinas is a quick, versatile guard who is a matchup challenge for most teams in the state.

How would you describe your game?

I’m a very versatile player. I can attack the basket and finish great around the rim, and get my teammates involved, but will also knock down mid-range jump shots and extend it farther than 20 feet back with confidence in every shot.

What are your goals for the season, both individually and as a team?

Team: BE A FAMILY. League Champs. District Champs. State Champs.

Individually: LIMIT TURNOVERS. League MVP. 1A State Player of the Year.

How would you describe your coach?

Coach Mengeralli is trusting, confident, dedicated, hardworking, and determined.

Who is your favorite player?

LeBron James or Jamal Crawford.

Who is your toughest matchup this season and why?

Lynden. They play team ball, they’re well coached, they’re efficient, they execute, and they don’t take plays off.

What is your favorite gym in state to play in?


What are your aspirations as a player?

Use my basketball skills to get an education, then continue playing this game as my profession one day.
