Glacier Peak High School point guard Haley Grambo has helped lead the Grizzlies to an 18-1 record and a No. 3 ranking in the 4A Washington High School girls basketball RPI. We recently caught up with Grambo and asked her seven questions:
How would you describe your game?
I’m a point guard who loves to pass and dish the ball. I’d say one of my biggest strengths is seeing the floor and my goal is to always assist my teammates. I also love to shoot the three ball.
What are your goals for this season both individually and as a team?
Team: The ultimate goal for our team is to win state, because I believe we have the drive and potential to beat any opponent. We don’t like to lose and we are always working hard on defense.
Individually: My goal for this season is to lead the team on the court as a senior point guard, and I also make it a goal of mine to contribute offensively and defensively. I try to never let my player score and defense is a huge part of my game.
How would you describe your coach?
Coach Hill believes in us more than most coaches believe in their players. He knows we are capable of doing great things, so he always pushes us the extra mile. It’s awesome to have a coach who always advocates for his team and invests deeply in his team. He cares a lot and we all appreciate him.
Who is your favorite player?
I love each member of my team with all my heart, and this is by far the most fun team I have played with. But, I would have to say my favorite player to play with is Sydney Guffey. Syd and I have played with each other since we were in 1st grade. We have a sense of telepathy on the court and she’s the best friend and teammate I could ask for.
Who is your toughest matchup this season and why?
We don’t like to underestimate any opponent, but I believe our toughest matchup would be Kentridge. They’re tall and good on the boards, and that can be tough to defend. But with that being said, we aren’t afraid of anyone and enjoy a close game.
What is your favorite gym in the state to play in?
I’ve only been to the Dome once, but that is by far the coolest experience of my high school sports career. So, the Tacoma Dome is my favorite gym to play in and I can’t wait to get there this year!
What are your aspirations as a player?
Since my basketball career is coming to an end, I aspire to leave it all out on the floor. I don’t want to regret anything at the end of the season. I plan to make the best out of the rest of my final season.
What is your dream college?
I don’t necessarily have a dream college, but I always thought it would be cool to go to Florida State University since my cousin is going there on a full ride for women’s soccer.
