PSJA High QB Jaime Lopez voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo quarterback Jaime Lopez for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 18-24!

Friday’s game against La Joya saw Lopez complete 20 of 28 passes for 394 yards and five TDs through the air and add a touchdown on the ground in a 63-15 victory.

Lopez received 39.73% of the vote, beating out Austin Vandegrift QB Brayden Buchanan who finished second with 24.16%.  League City Clear Springs RB Xai-Shaun Edwards finished third with 21.93% and Lucas Lovejoy WR Jaxson Lavender finished fourth with 7.64%. There were over 21,000 votes tallied this week!

Cergio Perez, Garland QB

In Friday’s game against North Garland, Perez was 29-of-37 passing for 414 yards and eight touchdown throws and also ran for 17 yards on two carries in a 61-24 win.

Cardell Williams, Spring Westfield QB

Williams threw for 372 yards and seven touchdowns on 13-of-20 passing in a 55-0 win against rival Dekaney.

Matt Allen, DeSoto QB

Allen threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 12-of-15 passing in a 62-10 rout against Waco Midway.

Chris Medelez, San Antonio Holmes QB

In Thursday’s game against San Antonio Warren, Medelez went 6-of-8 for 172 yards with two touchdown throws in addition to running for 154 yards and a rushing TD on 16 carries in a 38-21 win. 

Colter Hill, Thrall QB

In Friday’s game against Thorndale, Hill was 18-of-24 passing for 275 yards and three touchdown passes in a 42-35 win. Hill also ran for 162 yards and two rushing TDs on 32 carries.

Rashawn Galloway, Boerne QB

Galloway completed 19 of 29 passes for 447 yards and five TDs in a 51-21 win over Somerset on Friday.

Dee Lewis, Daingerfield QB/LB

Lewis went 14-of-19 for 413 yards and five passing TDs while adding 23 tackles and a TFL defensively in a 42-6 road victory over Omaha Prewitt on Friday.

PJ Hatter, Klein Oak QB

Hatter was 8-of-11 passing for 125 yards and two TDs and he added 112 yards and a pair of rushing TDs on 19 carries in a 31-14 win over Tomball.

Demetrius Charles, Channelview QB

In Thursday’s game against Pasadena Rayburn, Charles was 13-of-22 passing for 213 yards and three touchdown throws in a 55-7 blowout. He also ran for 104 yards and two rushing scores on nine carries.

Andrew Martinez, El Paso Eastwood QB

Martinez threw for 283 yards and six TDs on 14-of-17 passing and ran for 36 yards on one carry in a dominant 84-20 win over Socorro.

Austin Novosad, Dripping Springs QB

Novosad completed 20 of 25 pass attempts for 421 yards and four touchdown throws in a 52-14 victory against San Antonio Harlandale.

Alex Orji, Sachse QB

Orji was 13-of-23 passing for 215 yards and five touchdown throws and also ran six times for 37 yards in a 60-17 win over South Garland.

D’vonne Hmielewski, Sealy QB

Hmielewski threw for 170 yards and four TDs on 14-of-17 passing and ran for 62 yards and a rushing touchdown on seven carries in a 67-33 victory against Sweeny in district play.

Ashton Dubose, San Antonio Brennan QB

Dubose went 9-of-16 for 183 yards and five TDs in Brennan’s 69-6 win over San Antonio Jay. He also ran four times for 26 yards.

Khalon Davis, Denton Ryan QB

Davis threw for 313 yards and a touchdown on 16-of-17 passing and also ran for 20 yards on two carries in a 55-14 win over Frisco Heritage.

Weston Smith, Colleyville Heritage QB

Smith threw for 337 yards and five touchdowns on 17-of-29 passing in Heritage’s 61-26 win against Birdville.

Brayden Buchanan, Austin Vandegrift QB

Mateer completed 12 of 15 passes for 272 yards and six TDs in a 70-3 blowout against Round Rock Westwood.

Keldric Luster, Frisco Liberty QB

Luster threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns on 23-of-30 passing and also ran for 258 yards and three rushing TDs on 19 carries in a 53-28 win over Princeton.

RUSHING STARS

Owen Allen, Southlake Carroll RB

Allen rushed for 163 yards and three TDs on 22 carries in Carroll’s 47-24 district win over Northwest Eaton on Thursday.

Luke Wilson, Comanche RB/DB

Wilson ran for 169 yards and five rushing scores on 31 carries and caught a 12-yard pass in a 21-20 loss to Millsap. He also tallied seven tackles, a pass deflection and an interception return for a touchdown defensively.

Damyrion Phillips, Katy Paetow RB

In a 55-7 district victory against Fort Bend Hightower to clinch at least a share of the District 10-5A DI title, Phillips rushed 18 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns and added two catches for 50 yards and a receiving touchdown. (Phillips pictured in featured photo above by Andrew McCulloch)

Zach Evans, Rockwall Heath RB

Evans toted the ball 29 times for 263 yards and a rushing TD in Heath’s 42-21 victory over Mesquite.

Da’shawn Jackson, Commerce ATH

Jackson rushed nine times for 225 yards and four rushing TDs and added a 75-yard touchdown pass and a 63-yard touchdown catch in a 55-20 win over Rains. Jackson also recorded 15 tackles and five pass breakups.

Re’Shaun Sanford, Killeen Harker Heights RB

Sanford rushed for 330 yards and three TDs on 22 carries in Harker Heights’ 52-17 win against crosstown rival Killeen.

LJ Martin, Canutillo RB

Martin rushed for 377 yards and five touchdowns on 18 carries in a 54-10 victory against El Paso Hanks.

Glen Jackson, Dallas Molina RB

Jackson ran the ball 10 times for 125 yards and four touchdowns in Molina’s 48-26 win over Carrollton Turner. He also caught three passes for 123 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Dario Bressler, Canyon RB

Bressler ran 26 times for 323 yards and six TDs in a 75-60 win against Pampa on Friday night. He also recorded two receptions for 95 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns.

Ernest Davila, Poteet RB

Davila carried the ball 35 times for 332 yards and three touchdowns to become the first player to rush for 2,000 yards in Texas high school football this season in Poteet’s 35-21 win over Marion.

Xavier Wishert, Tuscola Jim Ned RB

Wishert rushed for 150 yards and three TDs on five carries in Jim Ned’s 70-0 win over San Angelo TLCA.

Kamden Wesley, The Colony RB

Wesley rushed 23 times for 259 yards and four touchdowns on the ground in The Colony’s 44-32 victory against Frisco Independence.

Xai-Shaun Edwards, League City Clear Springs RB

Edwards tallied 230 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in addition to two receptions for 21 yards in a 52-21 win over Clute Brazoswood on Thursday night.

Santana Scott, Katy Morton Ranch RB

Scott rushed 27 times for 229 yards and two touchdowns and added two receptions for 29 yards in Morton Ranch’s 43-17 victory over Katy Mayde Creek.

Jeremiah Crum, League City Clear Creek RB

In a 54-35 victory against Clear Lake, Crum ran 23 times for 164 yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Lloyd Avant, Humble Summer Creek RB

Avant carried the ball 22 times for 233 yards and five rushing touchdowns, both career highs, in Summer Creek’s 51-33 win over Beaumont West Brook.

Devyn Turner, Allen RB

Turner toted the ball 25 times for 211 yards and two rushing TDs in Allen’s 35-14 victory over McKinney.

Ashton Jeanty, Frisco Lone Star RB

Jeanty ran for 113 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries and caught three passes for 103 yards and a receiving touchdown in a 68-13 win against Frisco Centennial on Friday.

RECEIVING STARS

Luke Moffitt, Crandall WR

Moffitt caught 17 passes for 200 yards and two TDs in a shootout loss to Royse City.

Jonah Roberson, Royse City WR

Roberson snagged 10 receptions for 255 yards and four touchdowns in a 65-63 win over Crandall.

Gracen Harris, Ennis WR

Harris recorded nine receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-7 win against Forney on Friday.

Viggo Lopez, PSJA High WR

Lopez tallied seven catches for 150 yards and three TDs in a dominant 63-15 win over La Joya.

Jordan Hudson, Garland WR

Hudson caught six passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns in a win against North Garland.

Brody Noble, Denton Guyer WR

Noble hauled in 11 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-10 victory over McKinney Boyd.

Jaxson Lavender, Lucas Lovejoy WR

Lavender caught nine passes for 128 yards and two TDs in a 38-15 win against Frisco to remain unbeaten Friday.

Houston Hawkins, Prosper WR/TE

Hawkins caught six passes for 211 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Prosper’s 38-17 win against Denton Braswell.

Ben Ferguson, The Woodlands WR

Ferguson tallied six receptions for 190 yards and a trio of receiving touchdowns in a 49-20 win over Conroe Grand Oaks.

Alejandro Vasquez, Langham Creek WR

Vasquez caught nine passes for 140 yards and two receiving touchdowns and also ran for 64 yards on eight carries in a 35-34 win against Cypress Ranch.

Cameron Price, Houston St. Thomas WR

Price snagged 10 passes for 151 yards and two TDs in a 33-17 win against rival Houston St. Pius X.

Coy Eakin, Stephenville WR

Eakin hauled in six catches for 101 yards and two receiving TDs in a 49-6 win over Life Waxahachie.
