Rio Grande City’s Mikey Compean voted best defensive back in 5A Texas high school football

After releasing SBLive’s 5A defensive back rankings, we asked Texas high school football fans to vote for the best 5A defensive back in the state.

The winner?

Rio Grande City safety Mikey Compean.

Compean received 29.6% of the 27,930 votes. Kyle Lehman’s Tanner Johnson finished second with 17.9% and Frisco Memorial’s Amin White finished third with 8%.

Compean, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior, lines up at strong safety, halfback and punt/kick returner for the Rattlers.
