Red Oak WR Jace Wyatt voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Red Oak wide receiver Jace Wyatt for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Sep. 20-26!

The senior hauled in eight passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-28 victory over Mansfield Legacy.

Wyatt received 43.78% of the vote, beating out McAllen WR Christian Echazarreta who finished second with 25.87%. Burleson Centennial WR David Clerk finished third with 16.05% and McAllen QB Hunter Curl finished fourth with 7.15%. There were over 52,000 votes tallied this week!

Taryn Doiron, Bridge City girls volleyball

Doiron had 38 assists, 5 kills and 3 aces in a 3-1 win over Lumberton.

Kyler Maple, Morton Ranch volleyball

Maple had 40 digs and 23 serve receptions in a 3-1 loss to Mayde Creek.

Dylan Raiola, Burleson QB

In Friday’ game against Seguin, Raiola was 17-of-29 passing for 301 yards and two touchdown throws in a 41-28 win. Raiola also ran for 5 yards and a touchdown on two carries.

D’vonne Hmielewski, Sealy QB

Hmielewski threw for 319 yards and a touchdown in a 38-14 win against Bay City on Friday.

Austin Novosad, Dripping Springs QB

Novosad threw for 250 yards and seven touchdowns on 18-of-24 passing in a dominant 63-21 victory over Austin McCollum.

Keldric Luster, Frisco Liberty QB

Friday’s game against Lake Dallas saw Luster go 25-of-40 for 241 yards with a touchdown and an additional 180 yards and three rushing TDs on nine carries in a 41-24 win.

Cergio Perez, Garland QB

In Friday’s game against Garland Naaman Forest, Perez went 37-of-49 for 428 yards with five TDs in a 56-29 win. 

Jake Strong, Justin Northwest QB

Strong completed 20 of 29 passes for 302 yards and six TDs in a 52-7 win over Fort Worth Arlington Heights on Saturday.

Braedyn Locke, Rockwall QB

Locke went 20-of-33 for 412 yards, three passing TDs and a rushing touchdown in a 79-71 double overtime loss to Rockwall Heath on Friday.

Josh Hoover, Rockwall Heath QB

Hoover was 16-of-26 passing for 365 yards and four TDs and he added 8 yards and a rushing score on two carries in a double overtime win over Rockwall.

Hunter Curl, McAllen QB

In Friday’ game against Brownsville Porter, Curl was 12-of-15 passing for 346 yards and four TD throws in a 42-28 win. Curl also ran for 54 yards and a touchdown.

John Mateer, Little Elm QB

Mateer threw for 249 yards and two TDs on 17-of-20 passing and ran for 150 yards and three rushing scores on 23 carries in Little Elm’s 59-56 overtime win over Prosper.

Alex Orji, Sachse QB

Orji was 12-of-20 for 251 yards and four passing TDs and also ran for 37 yards and two touchdowns on six carries in Sachse’s 65-28 win over Rowlett.

Austin Novosad, Dripping Springs QB

Weigman threw for 345 yards on 18-of-24 passing, ran for 94 yards and scored four total touchdowns in a 48-16 victory against Langham Creek.

Jacob Buniff, Carrollton Hebron QB

Buniff went 23-of-31 for 339 yards and two TDs in Hebron’s 29-18 win over Plano East.

Chris Lee, Azle QB

Lee threw for 339 yards and seven touchdowns on 17-of-23 passing in a 65-0 win over Saginaw.

Ricky Reyna, Mission Veterans QB

Reyna completed 18 of 35 passes for 316 yards and three TDs in Mission Vets’ 27-21 win over Edcouch-Elsa.

Jett Huff, College Station QB

Huff completed 16 of 19 passes for 200 yards and two TDs in a 35-6 win against New Caney.

Cade Klubnik, Austin Westlake QB

Klubnik tallied 248 yards and six touchdowns through the air on 18-of-24 passing in Westlake’s 63-6 victory over Mansfield Summit.

Tyler Fussell, Northwest Eaton QB

Fussell went 15-of-19 for 278 yards and two passing TDs and also ran for 73 yards and three rushing touchdowns on eight carries in a 42-21 win over Keller Fossil Ridge.

Kaden Anderson, Southlake Carroll QB

Anderson completed 13 of 17 pass attempts for 244 yards and three TDs and also ran for 66 yards on five carries in Carroll’s 68-7 win against Trophy Club Byron Nelson.

Jackson Arnold, Denton Guyer QB

Arnold was 22-of-29 passing for 296 yards and two touchdowns and he added 73 yards and a rushing score on 14 carries in a 44-26 win over McKinney.

Kaden Brown, Midlothian Heritage QB

In Friday’s game against Springtown, Brown went 9-of-17 for 237 yards with four passing TDs and also ran for 113 yards and a rushing score on nine carries in a 49-13 win.

Andrew Martinez, El Paso Eastwood QB

Martinez went 33-of-50 passing for 390 yards and four TDs in a 29-28 loss to El Paso Pebble Hills win.

Matt Allen, DeSoto QB

Allen threw for 363 yards and six touchdowns on 24-of-34 passing in a 56-26 win over Mansfield.

Zach Evans, Rockwall Heath RB

Newberry tallied 281 rushing yards and five TDs on 24 carries in a 46-28 victory over Arlington Bowie.

Mahdi rushed 27 times for 174 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-18 loss to Carrollton Hebron.

Tristan Bittle, Arlington Martin RB

Bittle carried the ball eight times for 139 yards and a touchdown in a 65-17 win over Arlington.

Rueben Owens, El Campo RB

Owens toted the ball 18 times for 324 yards and four rushing TDs while also intercepting a pass on defense in El Campo’s 55-10 victory over Boerne Champion.

Re’Shaun Sanford, Killeen Harker Heights RB

Sanford ran for 162 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and added 61 receiving yards in a 49-8 win against Killeen Ellison.

Jordan Richburg, Midlothian RB

Richburg rushed for 173 yards and two TDs on 15 carries in a 31-7 win over Birdville.

Owen Allen, Southlake Carroll RB

Allen carried the ball 16 times for 146 yards and four touchdowns in a 68-7 win over Trophy Club Byron Nelson.

Jaylon Burton, Denton Braswell RB

Phaizon Wilson, Lancaster WR

Wilson hauled in six receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-0 victory against Dallas Adams.

Amin White, Frisco Memorial CB

White intercepted two passes, his sixth and seventh picks of the season, in Memorial’s 38-22 win against Princeton.

Carter Brown, Pearland Dawson K/P

Brown scored 10 points in Dawson’s 40-0 win over Alief Hastings on Thursday by nailing four extra-point attempts and kicking two field goals, including a 51-yard kick to break his own school record.

Tay’Shawn Wilson, Katy Maybe Creek DB

Wilson intercepted a pass and blocked two FG attempts in a 49-13 loss to The Woodlands College Park.

Connor Been, Klein Cain LB

Been set new single-game school records with 22 tackles and five TFLs, as well as a pair of sacks and a pass deflection in Cain’s 42-14 win against over Klein.

Kamari Terrell, Killeen Shoemaker WR/DB

Terrell scored on a 77-yard kickoff return touchdown in Shoemaker’s 42-27 win against Killeen.
