South Eugene football coach Kenny Koberstein steps down

Kenny Koberstein has resigned from his position as head football coach at South Eugene High School, announcing his decision Monday afternoon in a post on his personal Twitter account:

The Axe canceled both the spring and fall 2021 football seasons because of low turnout. Only 19 athletes signed up to play football for South Eugene in August.

“Despite our many setbacks I am proud of the experience we were able to provide our athletes these past two years,” Koberstein wrote in his Twitter statement. “That wouldn’t have been possible without tremendous support from our parents and those within our school building. Here’s to brighter days ahead for South Eugene Football.”
