No. 3 West Linn 28, No. 6 Sunset 14

The visiting Lions (3-0) got three touchdown passes from Chase Harmon and defeated the Apollos (2-1) of Northwest Portland in a matchup of teams that finished 6-0 in the abbreviated, no-postseason spring campaign.

Barret Brundage, Mark Hamper and Gus Donnerberg caught touchdown passes, and Jaxon Steinhauer rushed 19 times for 100 yards and a touchdown that put the Lions up 21-0 midway through the second quarter.

The Apollos got past midfield three times in the first half, but each time West Linn’s defense held.

Padraig Owens picked up a fumble and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown that brought Sunset within 21-7 late in the third quarter. Grady Newsom’s 35-yard pass to Hayden Hurley (three catches, 56 yards) with four minutes left accounted for the Apollos’ final score.

Harmon was 23 of 28 for 266 yards. Newsom completed 15 of 24 passes for 142 yards.
