Hiro Diamond, Liberty notch another shutout victory — this one 52-0 over Lincoln

The host Falcons (2-0) scored touchdowns on their first three offensive plays and rolled to the win over the Cardinals (0-2) of Southwest Portland. 

Quarterback Hiro Diamond ran for an 80-yard touchdown on the Falcons’ first snap, and he connected with Ethan Jones on touchdown passes of 30 and 48 yards on the next two. 

Diamond (7 of 12, 174 yards) passed for four touchdowns for the second week in a row and ran for three touchdowns. In two games this season he has been responsible for 13 touchdowns. 

The Cardinals, already beset by injuries, got 58 rushing yards from Brady Kopetz, who recovered a fumble on defense. Koosha Mirarabshahi made six solo tackles.

Michael Campos scored on a 27-yard connection with Diamond in the second quarter, and Smith caught his third touchdown pass of the game before halftime. 

Parker Treloar led the Falcons’ defense with eight tackles, three of them for loss. Cade Hammond and Tanner Steinbach each had an interception for the second week in a row to help the Falcons post their second consecutive shutout.
