Lincoln High School has picked Matt Caruso to be the school’s next football coach.
Caruso was introduced to players and their families at the Lincoln gym Thursday night. He succeeds Jeremy Johnson, who went 13-12 in three seasons with the Cardinals before leaving for Newberg.
Caruso has experience coaching at Lincoln, serving as an assistant on Wes Warren’s staff. He spent last season assisting at Milwaukie.
“Matt’s experience coaching at the high school level, his football IQ, and his love for our school and our athletes will make him a great head coach for our program,” Cardinals athletic director Jessica Russell said.
Lincoln finished 5-1 last season with only five seniors on the roster.
