Owen Hawley, Price Pothier, Conner Croskrey, Dylan Stroup help Newberg beat Sherwood

Newberg 14, Sherwood 9: The host Tigers took a 14-0 lead on Owen Hawley’s touchdown, and Newberg held on after the Bowmen returned the kickoff for a touchdown to notch the victory.

Sherwood’s touchdown came on Cody Hall’s return of Newberg’s kickoff. Sherwood’s offense was scoreless, with Newberg’s defense twice making stands in the red zone.

Hawley had 52 yards receiving. Price Pothier rushed for 116 yards for the Tigers.

Newberg’s Conner Croskrey had nine tackles, a strip fumble and a sack, and Dylan Stroup had nine tackles and a strip fumble.

Newberg ended a six-game losing streak to Sherwood. The Tigers lost each of those games by at least 14 points.
