What had been a spirited competition for the starting quarterback job at Sandy became a much easier choice for coach Josh Dill this week.
Senior Tanner Brewster had started to pull ahead from junior Teague Clemmer when Clemmer suffered a lower back injury Monday, knocking him out of the Pioneers’ Week 1 game at Sunset.
“Tanner has done a fantastic job these last few weeks,” Dill said Thursday. “But I will certainly play both quarterbacks throughout the season.”
Brewster was the primary backup last season for two-year starter Chet Chamberlain, who ran for a team-high 799 yards and 10 touchdowns.
