Madras goes with junior Reece White at quarterback

As Madras moves from Class 3A to 4A this season, the White Buffaloes will do so with a new quarterback under center.

Junior Reece White won a three-way competition for the starting job and will make his debut Friday night against Molalla.

“Reece had many aspects that allowed him to win the job,” coach Kurt Taylor said. “First, he threw the ball better and made the best choices versus coverages. He also stood out as the leader of the team and offense. He has grown a lot. We are very proud of him.”

White beat out classmate Ethan Graeme and sophomore Dru Boyle to take over for Robert Pacheco, who earned first-team all-district honors last season in leading Madras to a second consecutive state playoff berth.
