Senior Kaden Myer put in the necessary work in the offseason to move from No. 2 to No. 1 on Baker’s quarterback depth chart.
Bulldogs coach Jason Ramos confirmed Wednesday that Myer will get the start Friday night against Vale in both teams’ Greater Oregon 4A/3A League opener.
“He has worked hard in the offseason leading up to this point, especially improving his passing skills,” Ramos said.
Myer held off fellow senior Gabe Gambleton to win the job, taking over for departed all-league pick Spencer Smith. Myer was Smith’s primary backup last season, attempting 19 passes and throwing three touchdown passes.
Gambleton, an honorable mention all-league selection in the secondary as a junior, likely will get snaps at quarterback and start at receiver.
“Gabe will still get time at quarterback as we are needing to move guys around a bit more this year with our lack of numbers,” Ramos said.
