Several state semifinal pairings in Oklahoma high school football were announced Saturday morning by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association.
All semifinal games will take place this Friday starting at 7 p.m., and will be held at neutral sites.
In Class 5A, undefeated McAlester will take on Lawton MacArthur at Noble in one semifinal, while the other semifinal pits undefeated Collinsville against defending 5A champion Midwest City Carl Albert, which will be held at Western Heights.
District 4A-1 rivals Clinton and Elk City will meet in one 4A semifinal, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. The other 4A semifinal, at Jenks, pits undefeated Tuttle against Poteau.
A pair of undefeated teams, Lincoln Christian and Heritage Hall, face off in a 3A semifinal at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. The other 3A semifinal, in Owasso, involves Verdigris and defending 3A champion Holland Hall in a rematch of a regular-season game won by the Cardinals, which broke a 20-game win streak for the Dutch.
The first two championship games for the opening weekend in December are also set, both in 6A, which will be held at Chad Richison Stadium in Edmond on the University of Central Oklahoma campus.
Bixby will go for a fourth straight Class 6AII championship and also go for its 49th consecutive win which would set a new state 11-man record, when the Spartans face Edmond Deer Creek at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2. The Spartans will be the designated home team.
Then in the 6AI title game, set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, archrivals Tulsa Union and Jenks square off, the first time since 2014 the “Backyard Bowl” rivals play in a state championship game. The Trojans will be the designated home team.
Also, the Class 2A and A quarterfinal pairings have been set. Those games will take place at 7 p.m. Friday.
On one side of the 2A bracket, Eufaula travels to face undefeated Oklahoma Christian School, while another undefeated team, Marlow, travels to Cascia Hall. Crossings Christian goes to Beggs, while undefeated Washington heads to Rejoice Christian.
In Class A, Morrison plays at Tonkawa, while Ringling goes to Pawnee on one side of the bracket. On the other, Pawhuska travels to Elmore City-Pernell, and defending A champion Cashion goes to Woodland.
The two semifinal pairings in eight-man Class C was also announced Saturday, with both games set for 7 p.m. Friday. Timberlake faces Tyrone in Woodward, while Waynoka takes on Mountain View-Gotebo at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany.
Four eight-man Class B quarterfinals are also set, with all games at 7 p.m. Friday. Summit Christian is at Laverne, while Pioneer-Pleasant Vale heads to Shattuck on one side of the bracket, while on the other side, Dewar goes to Seiling and Davenport plays at Balko-Forgan.
