Big Walnut sophomore running back Nate Severs already had over 100 yards at halftime Friday night, and he turned the first offensive play of the second half into a 65-yard touchdown run.
Another 1-yard touchdown run a few minutes later and all of a sudden a relatively tight contest turned into a 31-7 Big Walnut lead over Canal Winchester.
Big Walnut cruised from there to a 38-7 victory, advancing to the regional semifinals against Massillon Washington.
The Golden Eagles eked out a 24-20 win over Olentangy in Round 1 but returned to their dominant form Friday against Canal Winchester, which they’d just beaten 45-24 in the regular-season finale.
Severs finished with 196 yards to go along with his two touchdowns.
