St. Xavier and St. Edward lose 28-21 to St. Ignatius and Archbishop Moeller, respectively

Upsets were in the air Saturday in the Cleveland area, as the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in SBLive’s Ohio Top 25 both fell in thrilling fashion.

Host St. Edward (8-1) took Archbishop Moeller (7-2) to overtime, but the Crusaders prevailed 28-21, sealing the win on a Mitch McNulty interception.

Meanwhile, down the road in Strongsville, St. Xavier’s (7-2) last-second heave to try to tie the game also ended in an interception, as St. Ignatius’ (5-4) Joe Norris made the grab to end the game 28-21 in the Wildcats’ favor.

Three top-five teams in SBLive’s Ohio Top 25 lost this weekend, with No. 5 Springfield falling on the last play of the game to Miamisburg on Friday night.
