The St. Piux X boys overcame a three-point first quarter to run past Herculaneum 61-49 on Friday night. St. Pius X trailed 14-3 after the first quarter, but they caught fire in the second quarter, scoring 26 points, and led 29-28 at halftime.
St. Pius X lengthened the lead in the third quarter, taking a 45-38 advantage to the final quarter.
Nate Ruble, a Northern Illinois football signee, led St. Pius X with 18 points. Sophomore John Whtiiman pitched in 15.
Herculaneum won the girls game 42-37. Krysten Britton led the way with 13 points. Madilyn Dearing added 12.
