Our Week 2 power rankings for Missouri high school football
1. De Smet Jesuit (1-0)
St. Louis bragging rights will be on the line Saturday night for the border war between top-ranked De Smet and East St. Louis (Ill.).
2. Jackson (1-0)
Jackson will take its high-powered offense on the road this week to take on Hillsboro.
3. Raymore-Peculiar (1-0)
The defending state champion Panthers open Suburban Gold Conference play at Blue Springs.
4. Christian Brothers College (0-1)
After a loss to East St. Louis (Ill.) in the season opener, Christian Brothers will try for win No. 1 against O’Fallon.
5. Liberty (1-0)
The Blue Jays have scored at least 30 points in 10 of their past 13 games dating back to last season.
6. Francis Howell (1-0)
Francis Howell will take on No. 25 Fort Zumwalt North in a top St. Louis area matchup this week.
7. Lee’s Summit North (1-0)
City bragging rights are on the line Friday night when Lee’s Summit North plays at Lee’s Summit.
8. Holt (1-0)
This week marks the first of three games against the Fort Zumwalt schools in the next month for Holt, this first one against East.
9. Blair Oaks (1-0)
Blair Oaks plays at Knob Noster this week, the one team the Falcons shut out during last year’s state-title season.
10. Liberty North (0-1)
One of the top games in Kansas City this week will be the crosstown classic between No. 5 Liberty and No. 10 Liberty North.
11. MICDS (1-0)
MICDS plays its second straight road game to start the season this week at Park Hills Central.
12. Carthage (1-0)
Carthage plays its home opener Friday against Carl Junction, a team the Tigers have owned in recent years.
13. Smithville (1-0)
The Smithville defense has surrendered a mere 16 points total in the last five games dating back to last season.
14. Nixa (1-0)
Nixa will be part of one of the key games in Southwest Missouri this week when the Eagles travel to No. 17 Joplin.
15. Rockhurst (0-1)
Rockhurst looks to rebound against Park Hill after suffering a season-opening loss against defending state champ Ray-Pec.
16. St. Mary’s (St. Louis) (1-0)
St. Mary’s looks to further stake its claim as the top small-class team in the St. Louis area.
17. Joplin (1-0)
After taking down Webb City for the third straight year, the schedule gets no easier for Joplin with No. 14 Nixa on deck.
18. Lamar (1-0)
Lamar has won 11- straight games dating back to last year’s state championship season.
19. Webb City (0-1)
Ironically enough, Webb City lost its season-opening game the past two years to Joplin by the identical score: 41-40.
20. Hannibal (1-0)
After blowing out Helias in the opener, Hannibal will receive another test in Week 2 against Class 6 Jefferson City.
21. Chaminade College Prep (1-0)
Chaminade will play one home game in the first five weeks of the season, and it happens Friday against Lutheran St. Charles.
22. Odessa (1-0)
Sans last year’s season-ending COVID-19 forfeit, Odessa has won 25 games in a row and 37 of the last 38.
23. Lee’s Summit West (1-0)
The Titans’ lone road game in the first month of the season is this week at Blue Springs South.
24. Battle (1-0)
Battle’s scheduled game this week vs. Capital City has been canceled “due to a COVID-19 positive test and possible exposure within the Battle football program.”
25. Fort Zumwalt North (0-1)
Fort Zumwalt North begins a stretch of three straight road games this week against No. 6 Francis Howell.
