How the Top 10 teams in Mississippi fared in Week 7: scores from Oct. 7-9

Here’s a look at how the teams in Scorebook Live Mississippi’s Power 10 Rankings fared Friday night:

1. Greenville Christian was off

The Saints had a cancellation and couldn’t find anyone to play them.

2. Oak Grove beat Meridian 52-34

Oak Grove led 14-0 early, but trailed 28-21 at the half. he Oak Grove offense woke up late and put up 31 second-half points to secure the win.

3. Ocean Springs beat Biloxi 35-0

The Greyhounds got an early start this week and whipped the Indians Thursday night.

4. Starkville beat Tupelo 28-21

The Yellow Jackets got solid performances from that stellar sophomore class to move to 6-0.

5. Madison Central beat Clinton 34-17

The Jaguars weren’t spectacular in any phase of the game, but they did plenty enough to beat the Arrows on the road to move to 2-1 in Region 2-6A.

6. West Point beat Cleveland Central 48-14

The Green Wave took a 48-0 lead into the fourth quarter, rolling to another blowout win.

7. Oxford beat Germantown 37-28

The Mavericks jumped out to a 21-0 lead over the Chargers, but Oxford scored the next 34 points and hung on for the win.

8. South Panola beat Southaven 14-6

Stop us if you’ve heard this before: South Panola got the final edge in a game that turned into a defensive struggle. The Tigers are 3-0 in region play for the first time since 2016.

9. Harrison Central beat St. Martin 33-13

It was a two-score game halfway through the third quarter, but the Red Rebels kept their foot on the accelerator and that potent offense just kept rolling. Harrison Central is 5-0 for the second year in a row.

10. West Jones beat South Jones 41-7

The Mustangs have been absolutely dominant since falling at Madison Central in the season opener. They were again Friday night, rolling to a 27-0 halftime lead.
