Enterprise’s John Carter Kennedy voted SBLive’s Mississippi High School Baseball Player of the Week

Congratulations to Enterprise junior John Carter Kennedy for being voted SBLive’s Mississippi High School Baseball Player of the Week for April 19-25!

The junior threw a complete game shutout against Puckett, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out 12 batters.

Kennedy received 50.47% of the vote, beating out Vancleave’s Kade Carpenter who finished second with 27.76%. Madison Central’s Gatlin Sanders finished third with 10.41% and DeSoto Central’s Brock Tapper finished fourth with 4.73%. There were over 39,000 votes tallied this week!

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for April 19-25:

Matthew Azordegan, St. Andrew’s: Worked 6.2 innings to pick up a win against Magee, allowing one run on two hits and five walks with 15 strikeouts. He also drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

Kade Carpenter, Vancleave: Went 9-for-13 at the plate with a triple, three home runs, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored. Also pitched one inning in relief, striking out all three batters he faced.

Jackson McCoy, Booneville: Threw a complete game shutout against Corinth, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out 12 batters. Also went 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and two walks.

Brayden Sanders, Lewisburg: Went 4-for-8 at the plate over three games with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. He also pitched a complete game to pick up a win over No. 2 Oxford, allowing one run on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.

Gatlin Sanders, Madison Central: Went 3-for-5 over two games at the plate with a double, two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Jacob Snell, Gulfport: Went 3-for-5 at the plate over three games with a home run, five walks, a stolen base, four RBIs and four runs scored.

Brock Tapper, DeSoto Central: Went 9-for-17 at the plate over four games with a double, seven RBIs and five runs scored. Also pitched five innings to pick up the win against South Panola, allowing one unearned run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
