What you need to know
We didn’t see any big upsets in the first round of the 4A playoffs.
Every team in the North swept except for Kosciusko, which advanced with an 11-2 win Saturday night after splitting the first two games with North Pontotoc Thursday and Friday.
In the South, Poplarville and McComb went to a decisive third game, with the Hornets picking up a 14-3 win Saturday to clinch the series and advance.
North Pike also won a game three Saturday, beating
Greene County 7-1 after bouncing back from a game one loss Thursday night with an 11-5 win Friday.
The biggest matchup next week will feature the south’s top-ranked team, Sumrall, against a very good Vancleave team, which swept Florence this weekend.
