What you need to know
There weren’t a lot of head-turning series’ in the first round of the 1A playoffs, but there was some great baseball.
Baldwyn beat Myrtle 11-1 Saturday after the Hawks forced a decisive third game with a 9-8 win Friday night. Everyone else in the North swept.
Pine Grove’s Cason Jones threw the gem of the week, striking out 10 batters in four innings of work allowing one base-runner by way of a walk in a 14-0, series-clinching win over Houlka.
French Camp was the only team in the South that forced a game three. They beat Sacred Heart 8-7 Friday night before the Crusaders came back and took the series with a 9-3 win Saturday.
Richton leadoff man Garrett Brewer drove in six runs and scored three more to help the Rebels get past Nanih Waiya in an 11-1, series-clinching win over the Warriors Friday night.
