Each week, SBLive Idaho will update its all-classification top-10 high school football rankings.

Here is the Week 5 list, compiled by SBLive Idaho correspondent Brandon Walton (and featured photo by Vince Miller):

1. RIGBY (4-0)

Last week: Defeated Hillcrest, 35-0.

This week: Travels to Thunder Ridge on Friday night.

Trojans hold onto the top spot with ease as the dynamic duo of Tiger Adolpho (220 yards, four TDs vs. Hillcrest) and Taylor Freeman (10 receptions, 128 yards and two scores) shine once again.

2. MOUNTAIN VIEW (4-0)

Last week: Defeated Eagle, 28-21.

This week: Hosts Owyhee on Friday night.

Survived another test – and finishing the gauntlet of arguably the three best teams in the 5A SIC (Meridian, Rocky Mountain, Eagle) – by escaping on Dominic Sotomaye’s late TD catch.

3. ROCKY MOUNTAIN (3-1)

Last week: Defeated Centennial, 58-0.

This week: Travels to Skyview on Friday night.

Grizzlies’ always-opportunistic defense was out on full display, limiting the Patriots to just 49 yards of total offense to post their first shutout victory in more than a year.

4. COUER D’ALENE (2-1)

Last week: Defeated North Creek (WA), 43-42 in OT.

This week: Plays Skyview (WA) at EWU on Saturday afternoon.

Vikings make same-day 51/2-hour trip to Seattle, and overcome two-TD deficit to win in overtime on as they stop North Creek’s two-point conversion pass inches from goal-line.

5. HIGHLAND (4-1)

Last week: Defeated Pocatello, 41-14.

This week: Travels to Madison on Friday night.

Quarterback Jack Whitmer (308 yards, four TDs) and the Rams win the city title – again – by claiming their 11th consecutive “Black and Blue Bowl” championship in a rout.

6. MERIDIAN (3-1)

Last week: Defeated then-No. 4 Capital, 35-0.

This week: Travels to No. 7 Eagle on Friday night.

Easily team’s most impressive outing as quarterback Zeke Martinez (236 yards, three TDs), receiver Quentin Riley (nine receptions, 164 yards, two TDs) and crew hand Eagles first shutout loss in 13 years.

7. EAGLE (2-1)

Last week: Lost to No. 2 Mountain View, 28-21.

This week: Hosts No. 6 Meridian on Friday night.

Back-to-back losses to top-three squads, this one was particularly heartbreaking as Mustangs blow eight-point lead in the final quarter. Road does not get any easier this week.

8. HOMEDALE (4-0)

Last week: Defeated then No. 10 Sandpoint, 38-21.

This week: Travels to McCall-Donnelly on Friday night.

Trojans rocket up into top 10 after thumping 4A state contenders with almost 400 yards on the ground, led by Hayden Kincheloe’s 200. Is this their year to finish the deal in 3A?

9. MINICO (4-0)

Last week: Defeated Mountain Home, 25-0..

This week: Travels to Burley on Friday night.

Previous 4A entrants (Bishop Kelly, Skyline, Sandpoint) are all out, so enter the Power 10 at your own risk! Power-running Spartans are off to their first 4-0 start since 2018.

10. LEWISTON (4-0)

Last week: Defeated Eisenhower (WA), 63-21.

This week: Travels to Sandpoint on Friday night.

Quickly, can you name the highest-scoring team in Idaho high school football? It is the Bengals, who average 52.0 points per game, led by receiver-turned quarterback Jace McKarcher.
