How the SBLive Power 10 Idaho high school football teams fared in Week 2: Rocky Mountain goes down, so there will be a new No. 1

Each week, SBLive will rank the top 10 teams across the state of Idaho regardless of classification. Here’s a look at how those teams fared in games played in Week 2 of the high school football season.

1. ROCKY MOUNTAIN, 1-1 (5A) loses to No. 5 Mountain View, 26-20

Grizzlies lose the ax in “Battle of the Mountains” rivalry loss. And they also lose 29-game 5A SIC winning streak. No worries whatsoever.

2. RIGBY, 2-0 (5A) beats Post Falls, 49-14

No fourth-quarter comeback needed this year as Tiger Adolpho tosses three first-quarter touchdown passes to get Trojans going.

3. EAGLE, 2-0 (5A) beats Kuna, 42-7

It happened in a flash – two touchdowns in 27 seconds, capped by Brody Focht’s fumble recovery for a touchdown – as Mustangs clock the Kavemen.

4. CAPITAL, 2-0 (5A) beats Owyhee, 49-22

Eagles spoil first-year school’s home debut in new digs as QB Max Clark has near-perfect night (24 of 25, 396 yards, six TDs) in victory.

5. MOUNTAIN VIEW, 2-0 (5A) beats No. 1 Rocky Mountain, 26-20

LB Brayden Garrison makes biggest play by deflecting fourth-down go-ahead pass attempt from the Mavericks’ 11 with five minutes remaining.

6. COUER D’ALENE, 1-1 (5A) beats Sandpoint, 24-22

Vikings blow big lead, but score go-ahead field goal with 5:19 remaining, then get game-sealing sack from Wyatt Potter to hold off Bulldogs.

6. HIGHLAND, 2-1 (5A) beats Logan (Utah), 47-12

Eli Parrish’s 55-yard TD run got the Rams off and running – and all-state kicker Ian Hershey’s big leg got into the act (three 40-yard-plus FGs).

8. MERIDIAN, 1-1 (5A) beats Centennial, 41-0

No Malakai Martinez? No problem – because he has a little brother. And QB Zeke Martinez throws first career TD at end of first half in shutout win.

9. BISHOP KELLY, 1-1 (4A) beats Borah, 45-19

All-state RB Seth Knothe still goes over 100 yards (103 rushing yards, two TDs), but Knights’ balanced effort wears down 5A SIC Lions.

10. SKYLINE, 1-1 (4A) beats Thunder Ridge, 39-18

QB Lachlan Haacke has big night for Grizzlies (298 passing yards, three TD passes), who avoid upstart Titans’ bid for another upset.
