How the SBLive Power 10 Idaho high school football teams fared in Week 1: Wild finishes in Boise net Mountain View, Eagle big victories

Each week, SBLive will rank the top 10 teams across the state of Idaho regardless of classification. Here’s a look at how those teams fared in games played in Week 1 of the high school football season.

1. ROCKY MOUNTAIN, 1-0 (5A) on bye week

Defending 5A champions get well-deserved break after holding Highland off in final seconds last week.

2. RIGBY, 1-0 (5A) beats Sky View (Utah), 43-6

Pretty big statement win for reigning 5A finalists, who convincingly end Bobcats’ 27-game winning streak.

3. COUER D’ALENE, 0-0 (5A) plays Lehi (Utah) on Saturday

Vikings face big test trying to slow down QB Jackson Brousseau (487 yards, three TDs in two games this fall).

4. EAGLE, 1-0 (5A) beats Bishop Kelly, 35-33

In this all-Boise non-league shootout, Mustangs’ defense holds inside own 5-yard line in final seconds.

5. CAPITAL, 1-0 (5A) beats Nampa, 35-21 (Thu.)

QB Max Clark returned from 2020 season-ending knee injury to throw three touchdown passes in win.

6. HIGHLAND, 0-1 (5A) on bye week

Rams found life in furious fourth-quarter rally, only to be stopped inside red zone as time expired against Griz.

7. MOUNTAIN VIEW, 1-0 (5A) beats Meridian, 14-13

All it took was three-minute, two-TD explosion at end of third quarter for Mavericks to erase double-digit deficit.

8. MERIDIAN, 0-1 (5A) lost to Mountain View, 14-13

Warriors heartbreak – kicker Eli Arsenault misses go-ahead 33-yard field goal wide right with 56 seconds to go.

9. BISHOP KELLY, 0-1 (4A) lost to Eagle, 35-33

All-state RB Seth Knothe has monster senior-season debut (five rushing TDs). Knights could have used one more.

10. SKYLINE, 0-1 (4A) lost to Green Canyon, 16-15

Tough loss for 4A champions, giving up last-second blocked punt – and ensuing game-winning Caleb Naegle field goal.
