THIS WEEK’S WAFD BANK SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:
Riley Dorius, Malad: Dorius pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run, and picked up key hit at the plate to lead Malad to a 9-6 win over Bear Lake.
Aramy Glaser, Century: Glaser doubled, tripled and pitched a complete-game five-hitter to lead Century to a 5-1 win over Pocatello, clinching their first state tournament berth since 2013.
Ashley Grantham, Timberlake: Grantham belted two home runs and racked up nine RBIs to lead Timberlake to a 37-2 win over Bonners Ferry in the 3A District 1 title game.
Kendra Heitstuman, Potlatch: Heitstuman roped four hits and drove in four runs as Potlatch rolled to wins over Genesee and Prairie to earn a berth in the state tournament.
Lily Justesen, Skyview: Justesen went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs to lead the Hawks to an 18-8 win over Lake City in a 5A state tournament play-in game.
Hailey Smith, Lakeland: Smith went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead Lakeland to a 13-11 win over Sandpoint in the 4A District 1-2 title game.
Megan Stacy, Vallivue: Stacy went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Vallivue to a 10-6 win over Hillcrest in a state play-in game.
Jordyn Torgerson, West Jefferson: Torgerson pitched a complete-game five-hitter with 14 strikeouts and added a double at the plate to lead West Jefferson to a 3-2 win over Firth in the 2A District 6 title game.
