NAMPA – Naya Ojukwu had another big game, scoring 32 points and grabbing 16 rebounds to lead Mountain to a 62-55 win over Thunder Ridge on Saturday night in the 5A girls basketball state championship game at the Ford Idaho Center.
Ojukwu also broke Destiny Slocum’s Idaho state tournament scoring record on a layup with 11 seconds left. The layup gave her 87 points in three games, breaking Slocum’s mark of 85 points.
D’Nia Williams scored 15 points and Trinity Slocum added 11 points, six assists and five rebounds for Mountain View, who rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit and outscored Thunder Ridge 24-7 in the third quarter.
Lauren Davenport led Thunder Ridge with 12 points and nine rebounds and Aspen Caldwell added 11 points.
