Mountain View’s Naya Ojukwu breaks Idaho state tournament scoring record held by Destiny Slocum (video)

NAMPA – Naya Ojukwu continues to make her mark on Idaho high school girls basketball.

The 6-foot-1 Mountain View junior scored 32 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead Mountain View to a come-from-behind 62-55 victory over Thunder Ridge in the 5A state championship game on Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center. It was the second consecutive state championship for Ojukwu and the Mavericks.

And in the process she broke Destiny Slocum’s Idaho state tournament scoring record on a layup with 11 seconds left. The layup gave her 87 points in three games, breaking Slocum’s mark of 85 points.
