Emmett WR/CB Jack Maxwell voted WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Emmett WR/CB Jack Maxwell for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week!

Maxwell hauled in a 63-yard TD pass from Caden Young and also intercepted a pass on defense to help lead Emmett to a 42-14 win over Weiser.

Maxwell received 40.95% of the vote, beating out Rocky Mountain QB Kobe Warr who finished with 28.93%. Horseshoe Bend QB Colten Meyer finished third with 18.25% and Lake City QB Chris Irvin was fourth with 8.24%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Aug. 31-Sep. 6:

Colten Meyer, Horseshoe Bend QB: Racked up 314 yards and four touchdowns in a 46-22 win over Hagerman.

Cade Marlow, Skyline QB: Threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns in a 55-21 win over Thunder Ridge.

Kobe Warr, Rocky Mountain QB: Accounted for three total touchdowns — two through the air and one on his feet — to help Rocky Mountain win the Battle of the Mountains rivalry game against Mountain View, 39-36.

Braden Permann, Rockland QB: Permann had a monster game in Rockland’s 64-28 win over Hansen, passing for 301 yards and six touchdowns and rushing for 119 yards and three more scores. 

Jordan Erickson, Rocky Mountain RB: Took a kickoff 95 yards to the house to help Rocky Mountain open up a 24-0 lead in what ended up being a barn-burning 39-36 win over Mountain View in the “Battle of the Mountains.”

Kayden Chan, Mountain View WR: Caught three touchdowns in the second half, capped by a 35-yard strike that brought Mountain View within three of rival Rocky Mountain. “We did not match up well with (Chan),” Rocky Mountain coach Chris Culig said. 

Ben Ford, Eagle QB: Contributed six touchdowns to Eagle’s romp of defending 4A state champion Kuna in his team’s 2020 debut.

Bridger Hatch, North Gem RB: Hatch ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns in North Gem’s 16-14 loss to Camas County.

Lincoln Marler, Vallivue WR: Caught five passes for 135 yards receiving in a win over Hillcrest, 28-14.

Jack Prka, Coeur d’Alene QB: The defending 5A runner-up Coeur d’Alene returned with a bang, and its all-state QB threw for 235 yards, three touchdowns (four total scores) in a blowout 55-0 win over Sandpoint.

Kash Lang, Lewiston QB: A week after accounting for more than 350 total yards and four touchdowns, he rushed for five touchdowns in Lewiston’s thrilling late win over Lake City, 58-50.

Cruz Hepburn, Lewiston RB: Scored the game-winning touchdown — a 15-yard sweep around the left edge — to beat Lake City. He had three total touchdowns, including a 52-yard bolt in the second quarter.

Tom Simpson, Malad QB: Simpson accounted for four touchdowns — two passing and two rushing — and added an interception on defense to lead Malad to a 29-0 over Ririe.

Chris Irvin, Lake City QB: Threw for more than 300 yards and helped keep the Timberwolves close in a 58-50 loss to Lewiston. “That kid sure did a good job with the ball,” Lewiston coach Matt Pancheri said.

Brecker Knapp, Preston QB: Threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns, three of which came in the first half, to lead Preston over defending 3A Wyoming champoion Star Valley, 34-15.

Carlos Serna, Aberdeen RB/CB: Serna scored the go-ahead touchdown on a short run and also picked off a pass on defense to help lead Aberdeen to a 22-12 win over Declo.

Kaleb DeMuzio, Highland RB: DeMuzio had a huge game, rushing for 186 yards and two touchdowns and adding five receptions for 42 yards and another TD to help Highland beat Logan (Utah) 41-27.

Tommy Hauser, Post Falls WR: Hauser had 12 catches for 199 yards and a touchdown in Post Falls’ 44-42 loss to Rigby.

Trajen Larsen, Rigby WR: Larsen had seven catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns in Rigby’s 44-42 win over Post Falls.
