SBLIVE POWER 10 RANKINGS

Aug. 27, 2020

1. COEUR D’ALENE (5A)

Last season, Shawn Amos’ group was young – and nearly won 5A title. A year older and galvanized? Yikes.

2. ROCKY MOUNTAIN (5A)

Remarkably consistent, the Grizzles have a 5A-best streak of seven consecutive state semifinal appearances.

3. HIGHLAND (5A)

No team has won more 5A titles than this Eastern Idaho powerhouse – 11 of them (and four under Gino Mariani).

4. RIGBY (5A)

Before labelling this first-time 5A champ a one-hit wonder, it’s had five winning seasons in the past seven years.

5. MOUNTAIN VIEW (5A)

Coach Judd Benedick is a PLU hall-of-fame linebacker. He’ll know how to retool young defense to tip-top level.

6. BISHOP KELLY (4A)

Senior Keegan Croteau has done a little bit of everything for Knights (WR/CB/P/PK) – and now he’ll be quarterback.

7. EAGLE (5A)

Still one of only three schools to win state championships in each of top two classifications (Madison, Lake City also).

8. KUNA (5A)

Arguably best storyline from 2019, going from non-playoff squad (2017, 2018) to completing unbeaten 4A title quest.

9. BLACKFOOT (4A)

If you have doubts about new coach Jerrod Ackley taking over, he was successful in bigger hot spots – Texas and Florida

10. SUGAR-SALEM (3A)

The program with the “sweet” name will try to become first school to win at least three 3A state titles in a row since 2002.
