The CIF Southern Section has released their 2020 high school boys basketball playoff brackets, and we’re taking an inside look at the top players in each bracket.

The 29-team Division 1 boys basketball bracket is loaded with talent. Windward and Poly/Riverside are the top two seeds, and first-round games tip off on Wednesday.

WINDWARD

Dylan Andrews – 2022

Andrews is a national recruit in the 2022 class. He’s one of the top point guards in the region, regardless of age.

Kijani Wright – 2022

Wright is another super sophomore. He’s represented Team USA at multiple USA Basketball events in recent years.

Devin Tillis – 2020

Tillis, a 6-foot-6 forward, is committed to UNLV.

ORANGE LUTHERAN

Tibet Gorener – 2020

Gorener is a national recruit in the 2020 class. He’s represented his native country of Turkey at the youth level in FIBA tournaments.

MAYFAIR

Josh Christopher – 2020

Christopher is a McDonald’s All American. He’s yet to announce his college decision.

Dior Johnson – 2022

Johnson committed to Syracuse University last week. He’s an incredible scorer.

BISHOP MONTGOMERY

Isaiah Johnson

Johnson, a 6-foot-6 forward, is an Oregon State signee.

JSERRA

Ian Martinez – 2020

Martinez is a Utah signee. He’s been hurt for the last couple of weeks, but is expected to return for the playoffs.

DAMIEN

Malik Thomas – 2021

Thomas is one of the top juniors in the region. He scored 36 points in a loss to Windward earlier this season.

BRENTWOOD

Christian Moore – 2022

Moore is another member of the loaded 2022 class in Southern California. He has a scholarship offer from Denver.

Crespi

Mike Price – 2023

Price is one of the top freshmen in the country. He’s a great scorer.

Crescenta Valley

Tyler Carlson – 2020

Carlson is one of the top shooters in the region. He scored 35 points in a playoff win over Compton last season.

VALENCIA

Jake Hlywiak – 2020

Hlywiak has hit over 100 threes this season, breaking a school record he set last year.

Noah Veluzat – 2021

Veluzat recorded a triple double scoring 16 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists in a win over Canyon last week.

COLONY

Brenton Knapper – 2021

Knapper has four scholarship offers, per 247Sports.

NOTRE DAME SHERMAN OAKS

Ben Shtolzberg – 2022

Shtolzberg finished with 27 points in an upset Mission League win over Chaminade last month.

Dusty Stromer – 2023

Like Crespi’s Mike Price, Stromer is another top freshman in the country.

Peyton Watson – 2021

Watson is the top rated 2021 player in California, per 247Sports.

Lamont Butler – 2020

Butler, a 6-foot-1 point guard, is committed to San Diego State.

Davis, a 6-foot guard, signed with UC Irvine in November.
