On the heels of our Top 100, where we ranked the best high school football players in Southern California, we’re now bringing you position-by-position rankings. The rankings encompass the Southern Section, L.A. City Section and San Diego Section.
These are preseason rankings based on last year’s performance and spring and summer observations. We will update the rankings at midseason.
Here are the Top 10 defensive linemen:
#10 Keanu Tanuvasa – 2020 Mission Viejo DE
Tanuvasa picked up right where he left off from last season in Mission Viejo’s 38-14 opening victory against Hawaii’s Konawaena. The senior made two tackles, including one for loss. Tanuvasa has double digit scholarship offers.
#9 – LeShaun Bell – 2020 Calabasas DE
Bell played so well in Calabasas’ opener against Bakersfield that Arizona State offered him the next day. The senior was a first team all-Marmonte league selection in 2019.
#8 – Ethan Saunders – 2020 Orange Vista DE
Saunders won the Southern Section’s Division 13 Defensive Player of the Year award in 2018 after leading Orange Vista to the section championship game. He is committed to Cal.

Lawndale coach Travis Clark called Tuipulotu, “a coaches dream,” in an interview with 247Sports.com a year ago. The senior defensive end has a great motor. He had 24 tackles for loss and nine sacks in last season’s state championship campaign for Lawndale.
